Becky Otwell recognized as HDAOR installs officers for 2017
A happy crowd of patriotic High Desert Realtors and Affiliates came to the Hilton Hotel Garden Inn November 11 to bid farewell to the 2016 officers, directors and committee chairs and install the 2017 administration.
Outgoing President Serena Whyte thanked officers Catherine Haney, Secretary; Becky Otwell, Past President, and Cecil Volsch, Treasurer, for their hard work and support during her term.
Her directors were Deborah Brady, Joseph W. Brady, Michele Davies, David DiVito, Bo Goulet, Lori Hitt, Mathilde Kirkland, Curtis O’Brien, Victor Randolph, Gary Stater and Jo Ann Tidwell.
Chairs for the 2016 Committees included Bylaws, Chuck Knapp; Commercial, Joseph W. Brady; Education, Betty Henderson; Finance, Cecil Volsch; Government Relations, Catherine Haney; Grievance, Mathilde Kirkland; LCRC, Kari Leon; Membership, Al Calvert; MLS, Donny Jensen; Past Presidents, Kari Leon; Professional Standards, Beverly Bower; Special Affairs, Candace Foster; Strategic Planning, Becky Otwell; and Young Professionals Network, Regis Berardo.
Under the leadership of Karen Sanchez are officers Kari Leon, President-Elect, Bess Kline, Secretary; Cecil Volsch, Treasurer, and Serena Whyte, Past President. Directors are David Alvarez, David DiVito, Gary Stater, Connie Amelang, Bo Goulet, Jo Ann Tidwell, Michele Davies, and Becky Otwell.
To start the evening, Serena welcomed everyone to the gathering. George Beardsley gave the Invocation, Danny DiVito led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Jason Landon handled the microphone as Master of Ceremonies.
Ann Wagner of First Safety Home Inspections was named 2016 Affiliate of the Year. Joseph W. Brady, Realtor of the Year for 2015, presented the 2016 honoree, Betty Henderson of Agio Realty.
Guests were treated to a slideshow of the Year In Review. Many of the photos captured the remodeling of the High Desert Association of Realtors headquarters on Hesperia Road. When workmen began initial repairs, they discovered the situation was far more complicated. The project will be completed by the end of the year, but the official re-opening date of the Association building is projected for March 2017.
